Our Vision

The Leading, Sustainable Island Community.

Our Core Values

Our People

Our Place

Our Economy

Our Environment

"Magnetic Island is a vibrant, inclusive, united and engaged community which celebrates its unique Island and village character, its lifestyle, environment and diversity, and provides its residents with adequate income, employment and lifestyle opportunities".

- Peter Kenyon, Bank of IDEAS 2012.

Magnetic Island (Yunbenun) - Wulgurukaba Country

We acknowledge the Wulgurukaba people as the traditional custodians of Magnetic Island (Yunbenun) and value our collaboration with them. We recognise their continuing connection to the land and waters, and thank them for protecting this coastline and its ecosystems since time immemorial. We pay our respects to elders past and present, and extend that respect to all First Nations people present today.

Our Working Groups are the backbone of our organisation

The Magnetic Island Community Development Association (MICDA), is a not-for-profit community organisation that works with residents, local businesses and key stakeholders with the aim of developing Magnetic Island (Yunbenun) as the leading sustainable island community.

The association supports a wide variety of volunteer Working Groups which fall under three main categories:

  1. Community

  2. Future-Proofing Magnetic Island

  3. Projects

Please contact the Group Coordinator if you would like to be involved, or for more information.
